A Place To Call Home

On opening night at 5:00 NSCS will be unveiling its new name and logo.

The second annual art exhibit, A Place To Call Home, continues to tell the stories of the homeless and those at risk of being homeless. It will be presented at the Paul Mahder Gallery from May 13 through May 22. The opening reception is Saturday May 13 from 4 pm to 7:30pm. It celebrates through art the successes of North Sonoma County Services clients while shining a light on the challenges that still exist.

This exhibition features artwork by students, professional artists and the homeless themselves. There will also be prototypes of mobile shelter units, one designed by artist/architect Ken Berman and the other by students of Healdsburg High School led by artist/teacher Linus Lancaster. Other participating schools include:

Healdsburg Junior High
The Healdsburg School
Healdsburg Charter School
Pathways Charter School
Healdsburg elementary School
and St. John The Baptist School.


Thursday May 18, 7:00PM

there will be a showing of Marcus Cano’s documentary on homelessness made last year while he was a senior at Healdsburg High School.


Monday May 22, 7:00PM

there will be a showing of short documentaries made by Healdsburg Junior High students as well as a reading of poems by homeless poet D.K. Holt.
